Maybe he was willing to take possible one year post because?

1.) Really believes VT is about to turn it around?
2.) Hated Oklahoma and wanted Virginia real bad? Check mark on this one for me. I could not be an Okie.
3.) Hated Hughes and wanted to get out?
4.) Hughes hated him and about to be thrown out?
5.) Head Coach in waiting?
6) Other?

As evident, I have no clue, but would love to hear others opinions/knowledge.
