It's also about giving non-revenue sports a broadcast venue

There are a multitude of benefits, but I think the three main ones are:

1) Stability - with either the ACC or B-12 teetering on the brink of imploding, it sure is nice to have stability. This has to be #1 - survival

2) Money - the ACC must remain within "striking distance" of the B1X and SEC. Not only does this play a part in stability (by preventing the future poaching by one of the "rich" conferences, it allows schools to actually invest in facilities, coaches, support, COL payments, etc.

3) Non-revenue exposure - it would become more difficult having to compete with the "rich" conferences if they can tell kids that not only can they pay them more, their parents, family & friends will be able to see them on television (or online) for the majority of their games/matches. That's huge! Most of the revenue (football & basketball) games are already broadcast, either through regular cable channels, or live streaming. It's the non-revenue sports that have been crushed. I can't wait to be able to tune into an ACC baseball game or wrestling (or soccer, LAX, etc.) match almost any time I desire. That's huge!
