For those who asked, a short update on my cancer fight

I had posted on July 21 requesting your prayers having just been told that I had stage 4 appendix cancer. In that post, I mentioned that I had already had my first chemo treatment and experienced no side effects.

I have had 2 more rounds of chemo since then. My 2nd round was Wednesday 8/10, and I had my first side effect. I found my fingertips tingled whenever I touched something cold. I found a way around that by wearing gloves when I needed to touch something cold. I had my 3rd treatment on Wednesday 8/24. The only side effect was more sensitivity to cold. My fingertips tingled even though I wore my gloves (they were leather). A good friend mailed me some knit cloth gloves. They did the trick for now - cloth doesn't transmit cold as readily as leather.

I feel fortunate to have escaped some of the potential side effects I was told were possible. All food taste normal. and my appetite is very good. I still have my hair. I have not suffered any fatigue. Plenty of energy considering I am still recovering from abdominal surgery and having parts of my colon removed. I am not suffering from any chills other than my fingertips. I sleep normally. Right now, I seem to be tolerating the chemical cocktail I am receiving quite well. I think the consensus is that I am ahead of the curve when it comes to tolerating the drugs. So I am pleased at this time. Of course I have 9 more treatments to go and things could change. But all is going well for the moment.

This Tuesday, I will finally get my first petscan. So I will soon know just where the cancer is through out my body. Since the surgeon visually examined my liver and found no signs of cancer, I feel comfortable that it is confined to my colon/stomach area. Then the next day, I will receive my 4th round of chemo. If I continue to see only the one side effect that I have seen, then my confidence level will continue to grow. I do plan to be this damn disease.

That is my short update. I will be getting chemo every other Wednesday until I get my last scheduled treatment the first week of December. I cannot tell you how much your prayers, thoughts and support mean to me. Keep them coming.
