Simple Answer. ACC needs to be the only P5 in New England.


The ACC doesn't need to be in the Plains States at all. The Big Ten is already there and would benefit by building out more there for their West Division.

The ACC will be making a big mistake to allow another P5 conference to come into New England and take a 3.5 million person market out of the ACC's geographic footprint that has a team in it with market presence in New York City. Hartford-New Haven market is the largest market left in the US with no Professional Sports Competition.

Losing Maryland, which is in a market with the Redskins, Wizards, Capitals, Nationals, DC United, Ravens, and Orioles is one thing. Not much attention is paid to college sports. In Connecticut UConn is it. They are the team. There are followers of out of state professional teams like we have in Virginia, but nothing in the state. UConn football is good enough.

A lot of the Notre Dame football fan base is in New England. Playing games in that region should be important to ND as well. Realizing that UConn has never been a part of that is important, but the potential is important too. They can get away from Michigan and live a little. It's a new world.
