The proposals


The first was a ten game series, with games at South Bend, Foxboro and The Meadowlands.

The Connecticut legislature got involved and that was scuttled.

The next proposal was similar, but for a six game series. UConn said no, which was their right.

UConn had no reason to do what ND wanted.

But, there was no good reason for ND to play UConn at their home stadium.

It is not a good recruiting area and that did not fit ND's desire to play in pro stadiums where East Coast ND fans could see the team live.

5,000 tickets at Rentschler Field was not going to do it.

ND had no reason to do what UConn wanted, so no deal was struck.

However, my point stands.

I would characterize the relationship between ND and UConn as neutral at best.

I am not sure neutral is exactly the word, either.
