Maryland will always be in a deep hole financially.


They are located in a market where their sports entertainment value and interest only gets scraps after the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Ravens, Washington Nationals, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals, and DC United. There is literally nothing left.

Here's an article explaining the problem. Pay particular attention to the Date of this article. Maryland was a financial mess then. Maryland is a financial mess today. Maryland will be a financial mess in 2026, ten years from now. Nothing has changed in that market to change this fact.

The good news is that Maryland is no longer a problem for the ACC. We can now move on.
