None of the Big XII candidates move the needle all that much
(if at all), so the Big XII may not care about ratings. The Big XII may care more about just getting their product out there and at least giving people a choice on whether to watch it or not. Big XII games didn't really start to get shown on the regional channels in VA until WVU joined the conference. A TV station in Hagerstown, MD shows AAC games because Temple is considered to be the "local" team.
My point is that the Big XII may be looking at it from the standpoint that if a TV viewer's team isn't playing on TV in a time slot and none of the other games strike their fancy, then they might decide to tune into the Big XII game because either the "local" team is playing or the "local" team gives the rest of the Big XII members exposure in the "local" team's market. I am not saying it is the right or wrong way to approach the situation. It just might be the direction the Big XII decided to go in for a variety of reasons.
