When I worked at LSU....


in the mid 2000's, they raised money to build a Student Athlete Academic Center. In it, they put a HUGE classroom for 1000+ students. Then, they held one or two first-year English classes in there and mandated that every other section of first-year English was capped at 19 students.

One of the metrics on the USN@WR rankings....percentage of class sections that are less than 20.

yep, schools go to great lengths to raise their profile in these rankings, and there if very little disincentive against it.
