It was in jest, but there is also something real to the networking that


takes place by being in a conference like the B1G, the ACC or the PAC. The University Presidents do talk to each more and get to know each more if they are in the same conference.

These Presidents are under enormous pressure to raise money for the University on the academic side and it dwarfs the sports budget by at least ten fold. Having like institutions and Presidents that you can discuss these issues is incredibly helpful. The next time you talk to one ask them about it and you will know how important it is to them. It's why Notre Dame refused to join the B1G and has joined and partnered with the ACC. They wanted to be with like institutions.
