By LHN Contract with ESPN, ESPN has to approve where Texas goes.


And ESPN has ruled out the PAC12 and Big Ten. Oklahoma can go to those conferences, but Texas cannot. And ESPN has ruled out turning the LHN into a Big XII network. Texas will have 2 choices, ACC or SEC.

I think Oklahoma ends up in the SEC. Access to Texas recruiting is critical for Oklahoma. I used to think Big Ten, but Barry Switzer's comments about Houston show a dependency on Texas recruiting. Football is Oklahoma's brand, and despite the appeal of Big Ten academics, Oklahoma needs to be visible in Texas. They can get that in the SEC with Texas A&M.

I saw speculation on another board that ESPN is trying to orchestrate Texas and Oklahoma State to the ACC with Oklahoma and Texas Tech or Kansas to the SEC. They thought Oklahoma State and Texas Tech needed to be taken care of politically. This creates more in-state ACC v SEC rivalries.
