I've advocated for UConn here.

I think is helps the ACC to reinforce itself in New England, and there is little competition from professional sports in Connecticut. UConn has strong fan support. They have a 40 thousand seat stadium that they have shown to be able to fill when popular games are there and the team is doing well. That fits the ACC well, and the basketball is a good fit too.

The Big Ten is already in the Northeast by having Rutgers and Penn State. They are in the New York City market. I don't think the Big Ten wants to be in New England. It doesn't help the Big Ten address any of its demographic challenges. What the Big Ten needs desperately is access to the Sun Belt. They need to move south. With the ACC cut off I think there will be an aggressive play by the Big Ten on the Big XII schools going forward. The prize is Texas. I don't think ESPN will let them get UT-Austin, but I think they'll get some school in Texas. I think they'll end up with Oklahoma.
