It's sour grapes to think UMD and Rutgers were not good adds

Any B1G school can schedule a quality OOC school to make up for a weak Rutgers game. It just means the loss of .5 home games per year (e.g. Youngstown State). OSU, for example, scheduled Oklahoma this year. With Nebraska, Oklahoma, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Michigan State on the schedule, I think the OSU faithful are more than satisfied with the schedule. Ruts just means B1G schools have no FCS game, which I believe is a rule in the B1G now.

Ruts and UMD pay off as they bring valuable east coast exposure in critcal metro markets (DC, NY-NJ), and also bolster the B1G's academic cred as major state U members of AAU. Not to mention access to NJ and MD recruits.

Let's get real here: Mandel is telling a very small part of the real story.
