That's true, but I do think the ACC was trying to make a play for PSU...

in that brief time-window when PSU was feeling abandoned and unloved, especially by their B1G brothers. But it was a long shot by the ACC to think that would work. Then there was the partial intrusion into Indiana with ND.

All of that pissed of Delany IMO. And with UMCP ripe for the picking (AD budget in the red, a B1G loving president, rumored Underarmour support for the move, etc), Delany ran with it and exposed the ACC's weakness.

But you're absolutely right, UM, MSU, Northwestern, etc were never going to bolt for the ACC. Just like UVa and UNC were never going to bolt for the B1G like some theorize.
