Big East is better for their men's & women's basketball programs.

It doesn't appear that the Big 12 will invite them. The AAC is the 6th best FBS football conference, but it probably hurts their basketball programs in the long run. Joining the MAC for football would likely hurt any chances of joining a Power 5 conference down the road unless their football program becomes a MAC power and stays ranked between #20-50 every year.

If the Big 12 implodes, UConn could join a new conference with the Big 12 leftovers but that wouldn't be any different than the present AAC. If UConn wants to stop losing $20 million a year from its football program, the Big East with MAC football seems like the best way to keep their athletics department operating the black.
