If your assumption is correct, then that suggests that OU and maybe Okie
Lite are apart of the alliance. Even though OU and Okie Lite may not be joined at the hip, I don't think any of the 4 power conferences would be interested in just adding Okie Lite. Having said that I am not sure if OU sees its future in the same conference as Texas. The Red Rivalry can continue as an OOC game, so that may not be enough of an incentive for OU and Texas to join the same conference.
If Kansas and OU ended up joining the Big Ten, then would the ACC still be as eager to add Texas if it meant also adding some potentially less desirable schools (i.e. TCU, Texas Tech, Okie Lite, Kansas St, Iowa St, WVU, etc)? I agree with you that ESPN would prefer to see Texas join the ACC (or the SEC) because of the network relationships. It just seems to me that if adding 1 school (Texas) is ESPN's ultimate goal, then the SEC is in a better position to do it. It may come down to how big Texas's ego is when it sits down at the negotiation table and whether it wants to ride solo or with friends. Even though TAMU appears to be a stumbling block for ESPN to get Texas in the SEC (assuming that ends up being ESPN's preferred route), I suspect if ESPN wants the deal done bad enough then it will have no problem ponying up the cash to buy TAMU's silence.
