If picking the 4 best teams based on schedule/results is pollster-like then I guess you can call it like that but that is what it should be. Every year the top 4 has mirrored the what the BCS would have produced (I have linked this several times) which has "pollster" input and computer rankings. People hear"conference champions" matter from the committee and do not put in the proper context. Tiebreaker, people, tiebreaker. If you play a good schedule (e.g., OSU at OU) you will not have to worry about that. If you play 12 games and have a bad OOC (Baylor, TCU) you have more things to worry about.
Regarding OSU vs. PSU I will add these factors: OSU 62 Neb 3, PSU 10 Mich 49, PSU winning over OSU in a fluke game, PSU having no great, true road victories, OSU crushing OU on road and crushing a decent Tulsa team while PSU struggled with Temple and lost to Pitt.
