If you go to P4 and conference championships are the first round of an 8 team playoff, you give schools very little incentive to do anything other than try to create the most winnable schedule within the confines of the rules.

I don't believe for a second that a school is going to schedule tough for the benefit of the conference network.

And selecting a G5 is out of the picture in this scenario...there is no committee.
