I got a different message. The CFP has been consistent about this...

All three years, the playoffs have representatives from 4 of the 5 conferences. No conference has been represented by more than one member per year.

I think that is important and intentional. There was plenty of talk about the B1G getting two teams in... maybe even three teams if the right amount of chaos happened.

I think the committee's message to the B1G was... "You get one team in. If you think your best team is Ohio State, then fine... your Champion can sit out."

When all is said and done... it is very hard to compare teams from different conferences since they usually have few (or no) common opponents. I think the circumstances from this year will be rare, where the "best" team in a conference is edged out of their division, yet has some impressive wins over other conference heavyweights.

The news is good enough for the Big-12... they do have a conference champion (with or without a game). Their champion will get in when they don't have two losses - especially a blowout home loss to a team they are competing for a spot with.

The new is less good for ND. In order for ND to get in... TWO conferences need to be left out. And, as we have seen this year, that will not be taken lightly.
