It has discussed ad nauseam on this board that the College Football Championship was heading down a very specific and deliberate direction that will ultimately finalize with the solidification of 4 Power / Super Conferences.

So although my wife, and perhaps, other family members may agree "the voices" LOL are not just in my head otherwise we have some major group telekinesis taking place likely from one too many bounces to Enter The Sandman dating back long before Virginia Tech hijacked the tune as it's own, yet clearly impacted the Conference Realignment Process.

All kidding aside, it is clear that The Committee has strayed from the process it has been developing as we entertain the thought there is a method to the madness rather than merely being a substitute for the polls. Otherwise, all we have really done is change "The Poll" into a select few who's opinions really aren't much better than those of us who watch the games every week.

The purpose of the Playoff was to develop a more perfect "on the field" solution. We aren't there yet, which is why I get what happened this year, but it doesn't help the argument to get to a Power 4 Format that essentially self-governed without by a body of schools that do not and possibly cannot understand the situations the Power 4 Conference face and honestly ---- vice versa.

The Presidents do not want to add more games than already are in place. They like the bowl system, and the playoff, so they want both to work. The solution is de facto semi-finals in meaningful Conference Championship Games... you win --- your in.

Sometimes you may get someone who seems like they don't belong in --- say a 9-3 Virginia Tech beats an 11-1 Clemson, but they will likely lose in the next round, but if they don't one could argue by winning that they belonged all along.

Perhaps such a team is worthy of a National Championship???
