Wichita State approached the Mountain West earlier this year.

They are clearly trying to get out of the Missouri Valley Conference and upgrade. And at the time, they were also exploring the addition of football. Perhaps they are exploring options now with the AAC. I think they would benefit by going east vs west. But I'm biased. I live in the east.

I think that the AAC should consider UMass Amherst. They are an Atlantic 10 basketball team, and they would also have football.
