I wouldn't want the ACC to add Rutgers even today.
They are not relevant in college athletics. That's not going to change. The New Jersey college athletics fans follow Penn State for football. And between Syracuse and Notre Dame, the ACC has all the leverage it needs in the New York metro area for television.
I do see value in Connecticut. Strengthening the ACC in New England should be a priority. I also think the ACC let one go it shouldn't have in West Virginia. I would add them if they came available again. Temple is worth keeping an eye on. The ACC with presence in Philadelphia market could be a good thing. They could draw as much of New Jersey as Rutgers can.
Boston College was the only FBS team in New England at the time the ACC expanded in 2002-2003. UConn had announced plans, but had no track record. Boston College also made the ACC more attractive to Notre Dame. [Post edited by HOO86 at 12/18/2016 5:28PM]
