If K-State hired North Dakota State's HC or a FCS HC from that

part of the country, then I think the program should still be a solid one. It may not be competing for conference championships most years, but it should be able to finish at least middle of the pack. Kinda like what Ferentz has done at Iowa. Since schools have to recruit players from other regions, it takes a right kind of HC to sell the Great Plains lifestyle to recruits.
