What if Tech did the unthinkable... what would the playoff look like?

IMO, Clemson would have been knocked out and PSU would probably be #4 playing #1 Bama. OSU would be playing UW. OSU might be in the Championship game versus Bama had Tech beaten Clemson.

On the flip, Tech would have been in the Orange Bowl instead of FSU... probably playing Michigan. I don't know how the tie-ins work, but maybe Clemson gets Wisconsin in a New Years Six bowl. FSU would not have gotten into the New Years Six based off of their pedigree.

Had Tech won against Clemson, the ACC would be perceived as weak by ESPN, FSN, etc. They would be harping on FSU going only 9-3, Clemson not being for real, Louisville choking down the stretch with the Heisman winner and the winner of the ACC having 3 losses and not in the top 15.

IMO, the ACC and Clemson dodged a bullet. Still, I'd rather Tech win that game against Clemson and let everything be what it is.

One final note: with the ACC going 8-3 (3-1 vs SEC and 3-1 vs B1G) and Clemson looking as dominate as Bama last night, the ACC should get way more credit. Even in the losses, unc and Pitt were close to winning their games. Louisville was the ACC's only stinker. Instead, I've only heard some quick snipits about ACC dominance. When the SEC, B1G, Big XII or even the PAC are dominating, we are sure to hear about it much more.

  Perhaps playing Rutgers wasn't good preparation? -- HOO86 01/01/2017 11:02AM
