Conference championship eligibility is based on only 66% of the season...

Therefore, it is illogical to base playoff elibility on winning a conference. OSU went on the road and beat the B12 champ - they had a slightly better season than PSU and deserved to go over PSU.

You are using a conference championship as a proxy for determining the best team, and that simpy doesn't work.

When conferences decide championship game eligility on the entire season, somehow, then maybe conference championships will matter.

Wake Forest won the ACC in 2006 and got soundly beaten by every top team they faced. Winning the ACC did not polish that turd.
