Only if the power conferences force Notre Dame to join a conference

Even though the Big Ten doesn't like seeing Notre Dame having 1 foot in the ACC, it definitely won't like seeing Notre Dame have both feet in the ACC. The Big Ten will probably support Notre Dame keeping its independent status and still have access to the 8 team playoff in hopes that it can lure Notre Dame as a full member once Notre Dame's agreement with the ACC expires.

Would Notre Dame reconsider joining the Big Ten if the Big Ten is able to get Oklahoma and Texas to join the conference? Not sure how much Notre Dame cares about basketball, but having Kansas as a Big Ten member might be another carrot used to lure Notre Dame. Assuming of course the Big XII does eventually break up.
