The benefit of not being in a major metro area. We are not immune, though:


Look around you at the stadium. Before I moved south, I would see the same people in my section - getting older every year. The younger crowd are not interested in forking over more and more money every year to devote an entire day to a football game. They either want to entertain themselves digitally or engage in some other 'experience'.

If I were the man in charge at Kansas or the Florida school mentioned in the article, I would promote the crap out of the game and give tickets away to ensure that as many butts are in the seats as possible. Make the experience memorable - get rid of the crappy bands at halftime playing the same garbage and bring on entertainment like you see at halftime at NBA games.
