It would not surprise me if the Committee wasn't consistent in using


the resources available to it when deciding which 4 teams made the Playoffs. Heck it wouldn't shock me if the Committee intentionally arranged the brackets in such a way that it guaranteed the most desirable championship game (Alabama vs. Clemson or Ohio State). As you pointed out Clemson wasn't ranked in the Top 4 in 9 computer polls, so it would suggest that the Committee may not have used the computer polls to justify giving Clemson the #2 seed. Since Ohio State was ranked either 2nd or 3rd in the computer polls, then it could suggest the Committee may have used them to justify not giving Ohio State #4 and potentially have a semi-final game end up being more attractive than the championship game.
