Whit's first head coach hire that doesn't have head coach experience.
Williams, Fuente, Brooks, and Sung were all head coaches before coming to Tech. LSU had a RPI similar to Tech last season. I think they finished something like 9-20. This hire may have taken more research than his others. All of his other hires had proven that they could win at the D-1 level. Fuente and Sung both successfully rebuilt their programs. Williams and Brooks were both proven winners. The Wilson hire wasn't a "down the hall" hire and it appears Whit and company spent a lot of time and energy searching for the right fit.
