MAYBE one. The difference between catching the ball on a normal throw in 10 feet up the court vs rolling it to 25 feet up the court saves about a second. But then you have to stop, pick the ball up which actually takes extra time then just catching the ball and going. It works out to about a wash. Maybe you save a half second.

I understand doing it once or twice late in a game when you're down by multiple possessions. There's literally nothing gained by doing it when tied or down by 3 points with 40-50 seconds left to go in the game.
