Heard a story about guys buying a car with cash.
Seems they were the owners of a local restaurant who would only open the cash register to give you change when paying in cash - thus not ringing up the sale. Ringing up the sale in the register means the sales tax is recorded. Merely opening up the cash drawer means the sales tax is collected but not recorded. They pocket the cash from the sales tax, never pay it to the government. Story not verified, names, town and type of restaurant withheld to protect me, I guess.
