All of those entities have different interests though...


...how could they possibly ever align? Networks want ratings, congressional politicians from underrepresented states (e.g. NY, New Mexico) will want their 'fair share' of state schools in, state politicians will try to tie their gems to their duds (e.g. KSU), and the public wants entertainment (or inclusion of their favorites).

How big can the boat be? If you make everyone happy, you'll end up with over a hundred schools probably, and everybody still won't be happy. Plus, rich conferences like the SEC will B&M about making less because they had to accept duds with the studs.

I believe that if it ever comes to policians arguing over inclusion, any dream of a P4 is dead.
