So you would be fine with VT playing a regular season game on Tue or Wed?

FWIW part of the "tradition" was shaped by Congress passing the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961. The act defined Fridays as reserved for HS regular season football games and Saturdays as reserved for college regular season football games. In exchange for receiving antitrust exemption, the NFL agreed not to play regular season games during the respective entity's regular season. The NFL has only deviated a few times (maybe less than 5) and that was due to "safety concerns" with playing the game on the originally scheduled date.
