Sounds a lot like a wire got compromised


Maybe broken conductor or a nail through it or something. Could also just be that the vibration and movement as you were installing the floor might have loosened a connection somewhere beneath your new floor.

It is definitely in your wiring around that new floor installation. You just got to go find it. I would start in the junction box the light is mounted on. It might be just a wire slipped out of a wirenut enough to not make consistent contact. I'd find it, though. A loose wire can cause arcing and eventually a fire.
