Expansion is driven by ripples not mass orchestration
The current landscape is a result of several micro-shifts (eg: 1 to 3 teams move causing a ripple of another 1 to 3 teams etc). There's too much money and legal implications to pull off a one time massive shift or merger.
The BIG is a mid-west focused conference and is no more (or less) attractive for membership than the ACC or SEC. The PAC is fine as well as they are geographically stable from poaching. The Big12 has serious problems due to 1 big fish no network and no suitable teams to expand.
The next alignment will come from the Big12 falling apart. Look for UT or Oklahoma to drive the next big shift whatever that may be. [Post edited by jesuisvtguy at 02/05/2017 8:26PM]
