West Va and ACC membership:

Using forward looking speculation, if the Big 12 implodes, what are the real chances that the ACC would take in WVU?

If you consider ACC expansion in 2004, it required 7 of 9 (approx 80%) schools to add a school to the conference. Not sure what the requirement is now, but if it still takes 80%' then 11 of the current football schools or 12 including Notre Dame would be required to approve the addition of a new member.

It's my opinion that ND would want Navy as a member should it decide to join, which the ACC schools would most likely accept without much, if any, objections. If ND does not require Navy to join it as a member, then that opens up a potential spot for WVU.

So, who would most likely not vote for WVU? My guess is all the NC schools plus U Va. because they do have a rivalry relationship with them. That's 5, which makes it highly unlikely, in my opinion, that WVU would get in. Those pointing to Loserville getting in by unanimous vote should realize the ACC was not in a good situation at the time because of the Md move and the pressure from Flunky State and Clemson to add a football school to shore up the conference. If the Big 12 is going down, the ACC will be in a position of strength during the next realignment.

Feel free to comment and blast away.
