If a conference plays a round robin conference schedule, then

there really is no reason to play a CCG because it will be a rematch of a regular season game. For the most part people are not a huge fan of CCGs that are a rematch of a regular season game. They are more tolerant of conferences who don't play a round robin conference schedule because there are enough variables that prevent a CCG from being a guaranteed rematch every year.

Also, regardless whether the Big XII plays a CCG or not, it is the only power conference to not have its own network. As long as Texas has the Longhorn Network with ESPN, then the Big XII Network will never come to fruition. The lack of a conference network might be a bigger issue than always having a CCG that is a rematch of a regular season game.
