From what I can tell, WatchESPN still has a limit on what sporting events

it can televise live or as a replay based on whatever contracts ESPN has in place. For example it can't televise EPL (NBC) or Bundesliga (Fox) soccer matches. However, it can televise Super Rugby (league based in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, and Japan) which is broadcasted in those countries via Fox. I have noticed for some live broadcasts on WatchESPN, it requires the user to log in via their cable/satellite account for authentication purposes. If ESPN, NBC, Fox, MASN, and whatever other regional sports networks switch to the PPV model, then I would anticipate a huge pushback from the cable and satellite companies in addition to the sponsors. Instead of paying $0.99 or $1.99 for 1 sporting event, the price may be closer to the PPV price for UFC, boxing, or even wrestling.
