I do agree that on paper fans should be excited about rematch
between Clemson and FSU in the ACC CCG. However, I disagree that things would play out the way it should on paper. I say that because if FSU won the CCG, then a large percentage would be displeased with FSU "earning" the ACC's automatic bid when the series is tied at 1-1. Most of those people would probably make the argument that a third game should be played between the 2 schools to break the tie. If Clemson won the rematch, then people would be displeased because we essentially saw a replay of the regular season game and Clemson didn't really have nothing to gain by beating FSU a second time. Even though the Big XII's CCG might be "exciting" to watch, I do believe the aftertaste will be 1 of the 2 scenarios from above; either the series tied 1-1 or the winner didn't have anything to gain by beating the loser a second time.
I don't disagree that some of the ACC's CCGs have been duds. However, if the ACC had picked the 2 "best" teams (regardless of division) to play in the game, then I believe the reaction would be similar to the Alabama-LSU BCS Championship Game. Also, it undermines the purpose of having divisions and the requirement to play a round robin division schedule. A lot of people believe that if you can't win your division, then you have no business playing for a conference championship.
