Some facts for consideration
Here are some facts: We've lost 9 ACC games. 7 to teams ranked in the Top 21 as of this week. Last year for the same week, 6 ACC teams were ranked and we lost to each of them. UVA was a bad loss. We couldn't buy a basket for whatever reason but we rarely play well against a physical big-body team. We don't have the physical big bodies to match up. Had Magarity not gone out of the GT game in the 2nd qtr with the concussion, then I say we win that game. As of today, we have scored 71.7 pts per game. Last year for the season it was 58.4 ppg. Last year we lost to ND 81-40. This year it was 76-59. There are examples the other way but ND is a high quality team and we competed with them. Last year when anyone other than Hannah missed a shot they were looking at the bench for their sub to come in. This year they are encouraged to keep shooting. The asst coaches are actually coaching this year. The attitude and demeanor on the bench during timeouts is drastically different than last year. I've been sitting behind the bench for years and the difference is very obvious. Sure I'd like to have had a better ACC record. But we really have no help off the bench. Louisville had 22 bench points. We had 2. The starters get gassed because of the limited help off the bench. We went 14-0 because the lack of depth wasn't as much of a factor against the non-conference teams. If we don't see improvement after 2 more years, then I'll be more concerned. As of now, I'm highly optimistic. [Post edited by hokiehoo1 at 02/15/2017 10:54PM]
