I would not use Liberty as a bellwether of the future of FBS football.

What is most likely, IMO, is more separation between the P5/4 and the rest of FBS.
I may be wrong, but I will not be surprised if the next 10 to 15 years sees a new football division consisting only of power conferences with an expansion of the College football playoffs to include the conference championships as the first round and only conference winners moving to the final four.
I'm guessing Liberty will end up in the MAC or Sunbelt. Not sure CUSA would want another "startup" football team after taking ODU and Charlotte.
The AAC is the top of the heap among G5 conferences, full of teams hoping to be picked up by one of the Power Conferences and Liberty is not going to reach that level anytime soon, if ever. The Mountain West is, well, too west.
