Fernandez was 24 when he passed away. Just a few years older than most college kids. He has a family and loved ones, just like those who made the sign probably do. Maybe I’m crazy for even mentioning this, but did that ever cross the mind of these people before they decided to make the sign? I was 21 not too long ago. I lived in a fraternity house. My friends and I did our share of idiotic things in our college tenure. But something like this would never happen. We respected others. No one would find this funny. It’s disturbing that one or more individuals actually came to the conclusion that this was a good idea.

I also wonder how many people walked through that house or saw the sign in passing ... and didn't have the courage to speak up. I’d love to see where that house is positioned, and if it’s in plain view. But these kids had to have friends who knew how cowardly and disgusting that sign was, but chose to stay silent.

I don’t have any sympathy for these cowards. I hope we find out who they are soon. And I hope they never get the opportunity to watch another game at Lane Stadium. They don’t deserve it.
