He was a tireless promoter of the program. He'd go anywhere to promote the program, he popped in several times on my Dad and his friends (all retired) at Hardees.

He supported other sports, he was as visible as a coach could be.

He loved to mix it up. Whether it was high jumping, chalk talk with Tucker, wrestling at Moss, workouts at the mall/Lane, socials, chalk-talks, new letter, videos.

He always tried to improve the program. From the git-go he focused on building a club, which became SERTC. While I still think we have a ways to go to rival both OSUs, PSU and Iowa, we made great strides there. But he was always trying to improve.

He knew how to hire good coaches, and wasn't afraid to raise the bar to improve there.

He was an amazing talent evaluator, he knew how to find under-the radar guys.
He'd get under-performing guys out of the program. Gardner was the obvious example, but there were many, Ty Mitch, Huston Evans just to name a few.

He was frank and forthright and often entertaining.

I already miss him.
