Even with 5 teams invited to the tournament it is still odd

for a couple of reasons.

1. 2 ACC schools were invited to the tournament.
2. The tournament didn't use a round robin format because it invited 2 schools from the same conference.
3. If the tournament used a round robin format, then all 5 schools should have played 4 games instead of 4 schools playing 5 games and 1 school playing 4 games.

In theory those extra games played by the 4 traveling teams could have been used for a semi-final round, 3rd Place Game, and Championship Game.
