Regardless whether the power conferences form their own

division/sub-division or remain in FBS, I am not sure there would be enough support to change the bylaws to allow conferences to have 4 divisions. If a conference has 4 divisions, then it would probably mean adding a semi-final round before the CCG instead of using some tiebreaker to decide which 2 division champions got to play in the CCG. Since schools would likely be unwilling to lose a regular season schedule in order to add a semi-final round, then it would mean adding 1 more game to schedule. Assuming the college presidents are truly concern about player safety, then it suggests they would be hesitant to add 1 more game to schedule.
