I disagree because MLB teams are still drafting collegiate players
in the early rounds. In the 2016 Draft 5 of the first 10 picks in Round 1 were collegiate players.
2. Nick Senzel (Tennessee) - Reds
5. Corey Ray (Louisville) - Brewers
6. A.J. Puk (Florida) - A's
8. Cal Quantrill (Stanford) - Padres
10. Zack Collins (Miami) - White Sox
In the 2015 Draft, the first 2 picks and 6 of the first 10 picks were collegiate players. The 2014 Draft also had 6 of the first 10 picks were collegiate players. The 2015 had the first 3 picks (Mark Appel from Stanford was the first pick) and 5 of the first 10 picks were collegiate players. Heck even Stephen Strasburg (San Diego State), Drew Storen (Stanford), Buster Posey (FSU), and Trea Turner (NC State) all went the collegiate route.
