I wasn't comparing collegiate football with professional football

What I was comparing was the current business model in the US (specifically the role of college athletics as a feeder to professional leagues) with the business model used everywhere else in the world. Especially when it comes to player development. Right now MLS is probably not on par with most of the top tier leagues in Europe and maybe South America. If collegiate soccer is below MLS, then is there a market for a skill level comparable to DII or DIII in American football?
