Schopp of Edinboro basically did that a few years back.


Finished 3rd at 133, 4 points ahead of 2nd and only 4 points behind the champ, and that was only because the champ also bonused his way through the top part of the bracket.

Definitely uncommon though. It's great if you have one guy that overcomes an upset in the first round. Not a viable strategy for the entire team to plan on that though.

Even though they don't halve the bonus pts earned in the wrestlebacks, they probably should... goes up there with the same arguments as to why first round byes get penalized for not having the opportunity to get bonus.
