I will say that the conversation should probably be had. Many here remind me of those I encounter who aren't capable of asking the bigger picture questions. Of course it sounds good to continue to sponsor nonrevenue sports. That's the way it's always been done. Correct?

Well, the conversation needs to begin to be had. THAT's what I am getting at. How EXACTLY does the school/fans/alums/students/community/state benefit from these things? I would hope some in our AD are beginning to ask themselves that.

As our REALLY high student fees suggest, those students are essentially paying for a few dozen of their piers to compete. I'm of the opinion that the kids could continue to compete if they loved the sport, but they should do so at the club or intramural level. And in the rare case in which they have Olympic potential, they can always go and train while working at the Home Depot the way others in their situation do. There's little reason Virginia Tech should be paying tens of millions for THAT.
