Found a picture of my mom's cousin with his bomber crew from WWII last week

didn't even know he existed, had never met him or even heard about him.

A couple google searches later and I had found out what bomber group and crew he was with, when he was awarded the DFC and a list of every mission his bomber group flew during the war with formation charts and all sorts of information put together by the families of members of the groups.

Amazing stuff, spent hours reading through it, digging into details, reading diaries from members of the squadron, etc. Most amazing things was reading the accounts of things that were just daily work to them that we now know as major events like D-Day.
