Awesome. A few years ago I did a little googling about my uncle's infantry


unit. There were some interesting stories posted from soldiers in the same company as my uncle. Capturing a pillbox and persuading the Germans to come out. Every American was yelling the one German word they knew. Unfortunately, half only knew "Halt!", and half only knew "Schnell!". Because of the confusion, the Germans were killed even though they were surrendering.

There was also the fear the night before an early morning assault crossing of the Saar River. Fortunately for my uncle's company, once they got across they saw the Germans had evacuated that area.
